An illustrated talk on the Highland Lighthouse—the oldest and tallest on Cape Cod—told through the lens of my own ancestry. My 3× great-grandfather, Isaac Small, was the landowner and first keeper when it was built in 1797. Through archival images, personal insights, and historical context, this program offers a rare, first-hand family perspective on one of New England’s most iconic beacons.

A 400-year voyage tracing the Small family’s history from the earliest New England settlements to the present day, with a strong focus on Cape Cod—particularly North Truro and Provincetown. This program weaves together maritime heritage, lighthouse history, and personal narratives, offering both a family chronicle and a window into America’s evolving story.
